The Countdown is On

It is the hectic time between Thanksgiving break and the end of the semester. In less than three weeks
countless papers, exams, and projects are due! What else can we do but buckle down and get to work,
right? I would have to answer with the timeless adage of the SPACE program, “It’s a gray area.” Well, of
course we have to get our work finished! However, it also means we pace ourselves and make sure we
enjoy what is left of the semester. With that said, it is time to get into the spirit of giving! Tomorrow is
William and Mary Night in Merchant’s Square. In donating 3 or more cans for the food drive at the
college bookstore, you receive a free holiday t-shirt. Plus, free cocoa, hot cider, chili and countless
discounts in neighboring stores. Williamsburg still has more in store for us as many gather for the Grand
Illumination on Sunday! Nothing beats being with your friends (or family if they are nearby), huddling
together while gazing up at the fireworks. So much is ahead for us in the coming weeks besides papers
and projects. For those of us who do worry about meeting our deadlines, there is an upcoming Writing
Retreat to block out all distractions and get some work done. Like I said, there’s only a few weeks left of
the semester, let’s make it count!
